Biography



Angelina Blank (née Sanfilippo), a native of South Florida, began piano lessons at age 9. Then at age 13 she began studying the flute, working under the tutelage of Rene Miska and Suzanne Kirton, principal of the Naples (FL) Philharmonic.

At age 17 Angelina was selected, through competitive audition, as a performer at the prestigious William Bennett International Flute Summer School in Farnham, England. She has also performed in masterclasses with Keith Underwood, Susan Milan, Robert Stallman, and Emily Skala. In 2009 she was filmed for WHYY’s creative campus television series. In addition to working on solo repertoire, she has focused on orchestral studies. She has performed under esteemed conductors, including Luis Biava, Gerardo Edelstein, Rossen Milanov, Lukas Foss, and Charles Dutoit.

Mrs. Blank earned a Master of Music degree in Flute Performance from Penn State University in 2012. While there she was a member of the Graduate Woodwind Quintet and studied with Dr. Eleanor Duncan Armstrong. She also holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance from Temple University, where she studied with David Cramer and Loren Lind.  Before attending Penn State Angelina completed a year of graduate studies at the University of Delaware, studying with Eileen Grycky.

For the past six years, Mrs. Blank has embarked upon a career in flute education and pedagogy. In the summer months she has taught at the French Woods Performing Arts Festival (NY) as well as the Penn State Summer Music Camp. During her graduate studies she served as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Delaware and at Penn State University.

Angelina lives in Malone, New York with her husband Trevor Blank and their beagle-mix Penny. She maintains a steady career of performing and teaching, both in the schools as well as private lessons around Franklin and St. Lawrence counties.
